The performance of millimeter-wave over fiber using electro absorption modulator and avalenche photodiode

In this paper, a parallel MZM and quadrupling frequency technique are used to produce 72 GHz mm-wave. The determined optical sideband suppression ratio (OSSR) is 71 decibels. This mm-wave signal's performance compared that of two modulators, the Mach Zehnder Modulator (MZM) Electro Absorption (EAM) as well different kinds photodiodes, Avalanche Photodiode (APD) PIN-PD. When using EAM modulator, maximum Q factor for 80 km almost 20, but when MZM, it only 2.3. generated was then investigated types PD, PIN APD, receivers achieve best result in terms signal quality. PIN-PD, APD improves power received by 35%. system's ability carry higher data rate tested successfully varying bit up 10 Gb/s over distance 20 km.
